You have to actually argue, using logical reasoning and a coherent narrative, as to why emphasizing one element of canon is more important than the other and creates a more coherent setting and narrative, because I am basing my statements on information that is also 'canon,' I'm just applying logical reasoning and analysis to that canon. Sure, these numbers are 'canon.' But it is equally canon that the Terrans are descended from 40,000 starting humans and only had ~250 years of history in the Korpulu Sector, which would make it literally impossible for the Terrans to have 'tens of billions of population' as they're presented.
